This reasonably accurate sketch of New Street from a doorstep in 1961, when I was a young boy, has been included for comparison with other snaps I have subsequently taken of the street. An artist lady (a Mrs Crighton) passing by as I drew this kindly bought me a small paintbox to encourage me!
