St Just

This small staircase led to the opening above and the priest would then walk across a wide, carved, wooden screen in front of the altar, long since removed - or stayed put - and venerated the altar by sprinkling holy water in its direction as far as I know. There are steps at the other side too usually but I can't remember if this is the case at St Just off hand. I expect so.
yes those steps are duplicated on the other side of the church. St Just church played a large part in my life. I went to the Sunday School, was in the choir, was a brass cleaner, was married there and my son was baptised there. I haven t been to a service there in years, the last one was quite depressing. My mother had her buriel service there, it was her wish, but the minister wasn t very available to us, he never spoke to us before, during or after the service. Thank God for Alan Rowell from Pendeen church, he was wonderful. It saddens me to see such a beautiful church, not being used to it s maximum.
