Swanning along the shore

A Royal Swan, one of many that have adopted the Bay, Newlyn and the Boating Pool. These swans are so very much a part of the shoreline. They are to be treated with respect, however, they are strong; and be easy with the bread, as it swells up in their stomachs and they do not get the nutrition they need.
Excellent pic! laugh# Never seen them with any cygnets, though - have you? Do you think they may nest over at Marazion Marsh and the adults take turns to come over here to feed?

Thanks ...
There is a mute point; with the advent of massive alterations to the Marazion Marshes area in proposals.
Newlyn delta appears to be a meeting and training point for swans and their young. There is a pair that perversely cross the road at certain times of year to reach the boating pool (mentioned and pictured here on site). The only place that I have seen cygnet proper is at Drift Dam, though there was one occasion that I saw a handful (which is what they are) at the lower pool (west) at Marazion marsh.
The swans must operate a creche system, as many times the swans that patrol these shores are in pairs.

Oh ... what are the plans lined up for the marshes? Don t tell me the powers to be have decided that a bird sanctuary is a waste of space and would be better off as a car park or luxury second homes for those with more money than sense from up country? Or have Tesco plans to decimate even more of the country by building another superstore out there ......

In line with the disinterest shown for the purple sandpiper at the Battery beach, they are also in consultation with certain people who seem to consider that the area surrounding the old station at Marazion is suitable for a housing development, which is ill considered, and is considered as restitution for the losses at the Battery beach. The fact that the sewerage and general drainage is a threat to bird habitat seems to have escaped the RP - what is new? Clearly a shared synapse-free zone. Admittedly the proposals have received a strongly worded response from EN (set out in the threads on the subject). As much as I detest some of Tesco s actions, they are largely plans to preserve their own hold on land, rather than increasing their outlet area. For me, this all marks the end of decency and respect for fellow man and for nature. To find a decent thought in high places will require some micro-surgery.
