A snap in December, 2005, of the Abbey Slip and Inner Basin with St Mary's Church and the old Penzance School belltower behind the Abbey Warehouse now undergoing renovation in 2008
When Coulson s Granary was built, it had a landing wharf only, there was no connection across to Abbey Slip; The Abbey crossing was built around 1890, (no crossing to Jenning s Street before) and steps were added at that date, as well as a link to Coulson s Granary. Wharf road was built in 1866 as far as the Gas Works from the Station area; In 1881 it was extended to the harbour, when the first Ross bridge was erected, a re-used railway engine turntable, a real piece of engineering.
