The granite was moved by cart to Penzance Harbour, if in large blocks for working or, if it was in gravel or chippings form, by rail 2ft guage ( the most south westerly railway in Britain ) between the quarry and Stone Boat Pier, Newlyn Harbour, drawn by “Janner’s steam engine” – which was built 1901 by Stahlbahnwerke Freudenstein of Templehof, Germany. The Steam Locomotive 'Koppel' was renamed 'Penlee' in 1916 and I believe is in Leighton Buzzard now. It had been bought from A Koppel of Berlin in 1901. It had been driven throughout its life by Mr Janner, a bowler hatted gentleman who died in 1948.
