13th January 2009: By now, Ross Bridge (which has been sitting as it normally does in open position and has not been moved) is being stripped of all tension wires and verticals, as well as upper wearing and bearing surfaces, is almost now the bare support steel frame. The whole system is being re-assessed. In some cases, steel may have been weakened by continued drilling and re-drilling to re-fix loose panels as has been undertaken recently. The badly weakened plywood sheets are being replaced with concrete panels. It would not have been long before any of the old panels could have flown up and caused a serious accident; however local shops and other outlets complained of the effects upon their business and this vital project was delayed from around 2002.
