Yes the Granary in Causewayhead has closed as of Saturday 13th June 2009.
My understanding is that the partnership dissolved and it wasn't financially viable to continue trading.
This is a shame.... how many years has the Granary been trading?
Correct me if I am wrong, but I thought the Granary started off in the Branwell s Granary and Offices, bottom of Town, where Branwell s Mill Meadery is situated. I thought then they moved up to Bull s Lane, where the Piano Shop was, before they moved down to this shop? I see on the shop front 1976 established.
That is a fair time.
It is a great shame; often patronised this shop on my visits home. I see they have used a Michael Chapman poster on the door; great taste right to the end.
