The old cattle market

REMOVING THE CATTLE STANDS MAKING WAY FOR CARPARK TOP OF CAUSEWAYHEAD
Are there any pictures of the cattle in here anywhere? I vaguely remember the cattle market...

I can remember coming here during my dinner break as a schoolboy in the early seventies. Calves were fetching so little money I could have purchased two for the same as a couple of battered sausages and chips with a small bottle of vimto.

Used to go there a lot on market days, brill atmosphere, and the countryside coming to town. I have always loved the countryside and the sea, we are lucky here in not having to make a choice which to go and enjoy as they are both on our doorstep.

One of fave drinks .. Vimto, can you still get it? Another was Dandelion and Burdock - the real stuff, none of the modern flavourings, the real DandB was full of medicinal properties. Was it ... is it made in Scotland? Barrett was it? some name like that.

@Treeve,strange you mentioned dandilion and burdock-
I order imports from a firm on the east coast and that drink by Fentimans was on sale 4-9 oz bottles for
$8.75 or 5.27 pounds....I'm tempted !!!!

For an unknown reason dandelion and burdock reminds me of the herb shop in Albert Street.
