Contrary to popular belief, 'Radgel' according to Oliver Padell's 'Cornish Place Name Elements' means 'rocky ground, scree, clitter' (a dialectic word) and not the 'fox' ('lowarn' in Cornish) as shown on the inn sign though the animal stands on a rockpile, making it more interesting
