Treen????

Compare with BOP's 'Treen' version which he seems to have incorrectly to have interpreted as a Penwith milestone. This is a unique type of transparent granite indigenous to countries in East Europe (or else he has save his pic back-to-front). You're reading SVIT 5 from the wrong side. This is not Penwith. The signpost is indicating a village in the Czech Rep. which lies 5km away from the spot in the year Md [sic] (1500). The mason that scribed this was not hot on Roman numerals and thought 'd' = 500 when it should have been 'D'
With my doctorate on Slavic Milestones (my son married a Czech maid in 2004!), how could you doubt my credentials. This little village of SVITS lies right out in the Czech countryside but I must admit I was surprised to find ECNAZNEP on the other face of the milestone and quite what a benchmark was doing at its base I just cannot fathom!;)

This is a completely incorrect interpretation - it is the vestige of the French Community - This is the sign to tell people to stop flushing their suit puddings at La Treen, and place them on the M6. The traffic would then come to a stodgy end.
