Unknown Location

This is a photograph from one of the other tins of negatives marked Cornwall 1959 . In the background is a larger vessel with the name West ????? , the negative will not reveal any further detail. In the foreground is a little rowing boat named Daphne. The background behind the large ship appears to be trees. Please help me identify the location.
Looks like the Fal,they still lay ships up there, near King Harry Ferry. Opposite shore,Tregothnan Estate??? Late 50 s - early 60 s?

Yes, I wondered about that, then I saw the word Troy on the boat in the foreground, which is associated with Fowey.

Looks like Fowey Estuary to me - is that a lifeboat moored there - I will give this some thought, could possibly identify the ship, for that matter. Quiller Couch used the name Troy, did he not? I think that is Polruan side where the ship is moored. I will get back on this.

If this should turn out to be somewhere outside Penwith, I think according to the rules of Picture Penzance, you will have to remove this image from the site, but that is subject to confirmation.

For the porpoises of discussion to help anyone, we do allow a bit of leaway, but yes, in the end they will be deleted if not a part of PP definition of Penwith; quite right. Give the lady a dolphin apple. ::15:

In fact, if opobs is agreeable, I could post a section of this on Ships Nostalgia and hopefully obtain a definite identification of the ship - this has only recently had success with BayOfPlenty s post of a sailing ship; once I gained the identification, I gleaned a lot of particulars from various sources, even the owners description was sadly lacking (like nothing). ::15: What do you think opobs?

Carry on, be pleased to know; however i also have a nautical expert in our local camera club who would also be able to assist!

My name is Mike, by the way!

I appreciate that this pic may not be suitable for this website, but at least i will know where the location is and hopefully find a website that may be interested in this photo!

It is just that there is a marking on the funnel, and the name is near readable but SN has 38,000 members and they have a vast collective experience, I know there are many of the members who have been on ships at Fowey, etc. I was hoping to tap into that. The bridge is so distinctive of a period of maritime history, I know. I will see what I can do - I have trawled though your site and have now got the picture as to your standing and viewpoint. Very Good all round. ::15:
