Trewarveth Street, Newlyn. In the 20's the caretaker of Newlyn Infants School next to Vine Cottage was Mr Francis, and Ben Batten in his book 'Nelwyn Boyhood' writes: Vine Cottage, where Mr Francis lived, did not belie its name. Facing the School, it had an extensive grapevine on the sunny wall where tempting bunches hung in early Autumn. Despite their alluring appearance I do not recall any acts of trespass or stealing. How long would they last today?
