W H Smiths

You'll have to be an historian to remember this building. demolished to make way for, what is today W H Smiths. I agree with Mr Meek that this would be a criminal act today... A real shame! Thanks god for preservation orders!
It was in at the time of this picture Edwards the dentist Market Jew Street.

I agree with Mr Meek too. Unfortunately this is only one of a great many examples of such architectural vandalism in the town.

This building (Nr 96) was Blewitt the dentist, before being demolished. The opening (right) was to Miss Pool s house and garden. I agree totally concerning the official vandalism, borne out in the 2000 report to the Planners.

i had some appoitments with edwards the dentist a few times and what wonderful rooms in side that building i agree total vandalism and to the left was trevails mens wear shop and to the right was the vic pub were me and the woolworth gang had some good times

I believe it was Nesta Turner the land lady she passed away back in the 60 s her daughter was at the Fountain Tavern if I remember rightly in the 70 s

If my memory is correct Mr Edwards was the last dentist there, dentist Moe Blewitt on his retirement ran the Mermaid pleasure boat out of Penzance for some time

Mr Edwards was the last dentist there. He was our dentist and I remember him moving to new premises in Alverton somewhere when the changes were made. Trevails was still there after this building was knocked down though , was it not?

I remember this building as I was patient of Mr. Edwards. Trevails did remain after this building was demolished. If my memory serves me right from my last visit to PZ the Trevails shop is now a bakery/pasty shop???

I think before smiths on that site there was built a very modern expensive dress shop ??? and a little farther up the street was Parkers which burnt down The heat melted the railings oposite on the terrace !!

@Cherrycandy...the Parker fire was hot enough to peel the paint of buildings
on the Terrace but not to melt the railings !!
