Wow I don t think I ve ever seen the Western hotel from Clarence Street before, and excellent picture, also is the building with the door in it, does this belong to the hotel?
Yes, that was the hotel garage. Much of what is now the car park was in there. My father worked for the Post Office telephones (later BT) and they kept their vans and had their depot in those garages.
I really appreciate these as well. My father used to take me into the garages, to meet someone or to deliver, not sure what adults get up to, when you are twelve and sat in a lorry.
