Yellowhammer

Taken in Scotland 2011
I think i've seen just one Yellowhammer since i've lived down here, went to Scotland 2011, you can't move for them there!

This is a little bird which I believe is related to the yellowhammer but which I have never seen before. I apologise that I cannot match the excellence of your photography, Chris, but - a sort of mystery pic - can you identify the bird, anyone? http://img151.imageshack.us/img151/1019/bdayincomillastues24may.jpg I think I know, and I'd better explain that I saw this in May in Comillas in Northern Spain though it is to be found in Britain occasionally.

I'm guessing Cirl Bunting Tpp, though i've never seen one, they can actually be seen all year, South Devon area being the best place.

Well, I'm of the opinion that it was one of about four 'serins' and quite noisy. I thought that that was the closest in appearance in my books but I see what you mean.
