Here it is all fixed and reassembled.
It took about an hour and was surprisingly easy to do. I also took the opportunity to clean the lens and the mechanism whilst I was working on it.
For those of you who haven't seen inside a compact camera here it is. Trust me when I say they are compact.
Here the camera is about halfway stripped. Unfortunately the area I needed to get too was still very much deeper in the casing of the camera
This was the problem. The SD card corner snapped off and ended up inside the camera. This meant that when you inserted the card it wouldn't lock in.
A new camera like this is about £90... so out with the tools and off we go again
