A man who subjected a woman to a nine-hour attack at his home in Redruth has been jailed.
Damian Sylvester punched, kicked, throttled and spat at the mother-of-one during the attack last February, a jury at Truro Crown Court was told.
The 31-year-old was convicted of false imprisonment and assault causing actual bodily harm.
Sylvester was jailed at Exeter Crown Court on Monday for three-and-a-half-years.
'Absolutely terrifying' The court heard that Sylvester's victim was a previous partner.
Recorder John Williams told him: "You subjected her to the most appalling series of events for nine hours.
"It must have been absolutely terrifying for her."
The court heard how his victim begged him to let her go and kissed his feet.
The attack started at 2100 GMT and continued throughout the night, until 0600 GMT, when she managed to escape from the first floor flat.
Mr Williams rejected claims that the incident had been "a lovers' tiff" and said the attack had been fuelled by alcohol and drug abuse.
