A FORMER resident of a Penwith village has put out an appeal for information concerning a mystery photograph which she found in her loft.
Sheila Purcell was living in Perranuthnoe when she found the mystery image, which depicts a fresh-faced young sailor.
And there are only a few tantalising clues to help her in her search.
Sheila said: "On the back is written: 'Blue eyes, fresh complexion. Very dark navy badge (?), gold buttons'.
"It was framed but the frame was falling apart and the glass had gone.
"It was obviously taken in a studio, but there are no identifying marks.
"The photograph must have been tinted, though this has faded. I'm sure it was taken for this nice-looking young man's proud parents."
Now living in Hampshire, and still in possession of the photograph, Sheila is wondering whether Cornishman readers can help her in her search. She said: "They might recognise his face from their own family album: a slim chance, I know, but I feel I should try."
