Power failure Penzance

A massive power failure hit Penzance at about 09:40 this morning leaving most of the main street Market Jew Street and town centre without power. The surge hit houses as far away as Heamoor and Newlyn, but its not yet known how many are with out power. Unconfirmed reports are coming in that the power could be out for most of the day.

I rang up and was told by SWEB a transformer had caught fire in Dock Street.

Our power is back on now - how about everyone else?

By the way, this is the number I rang for SWEB should it happen again and you want to find out what's happening. SWEB are the distributors, so it doesn't matter who you get your electricity from (i.e. we're Southern Electric), it's SWEB you need to call.
