Dolly Pentreath

On visiting Lanhydrock House near Bodmin yesterday, I took the opportunity of photographing without flash (NT policy) the small picture of Dolly Pentreath that you see here. Recently, treeve carried out a fairly in-depth research on Dolly Pentreath's life and burial place. This fine little painting also has a small plaque under it that ascribes it to no artist but states that Dolly, 1685-1777, was the last speaker of the Cornish language (somewhat erroneously since there were one or two authenticated speakers after her and before the language revival). Does anyone know who the artist was?
What an intelligent and helpful policy to allow photography, after all with digital the sensor is sufficient to pick up most images without flash.

I quite agree. It made my visit that much more interesting and also permits me to digest it on my return and share it with others.
