A man jailed for six years for the sexual assault and robbery of a care worker in Cornwall has had his sentence increased to 14 years.
Mark McGee, 48, of Germoe, near Penzance, broke into the home of an elderly man near Penryn and attacked his carer in September 2010.
He bound and gagged her before robbing her and carrying out a violent sex assault at knife point.
Judges at the Court of Appeal in London said six years was "unduly lenient".
McGee admitted two serious sexual offences and robbery and was found not guilty of two charges of rape at his trial at Truro Crown Court in December 2010.
The Lord Chief Justice, Lord Judge, said at the Court of Appeal that sex crimes committed during burglaries and robberies in the home should be treated with the utmost seriousness by sentencing judges.
Such rapes and sex attacks are "pitiless, wicked crimes", Lord Judge said, and "there is no room in the sentencing process for mercy".
