Does anyone know the history of this very Cornish granite obelisk? Is it an old standing stone or something made for the entrance?? Interesting laugh# laugh#
As you can see from the list of owners on Kenegie - 2 image, that was quite late for that form of castellation. I need to make a careful examination on site and to follow up the leads that I am building.
Also, why is there an iron band near the top? I see no immediate sign of damage. I consider the castellation to be decorative rather than defensive. Yet not having seen to the rear of this wall I cannot conclusively say it is not of English Civil war period. Anyone care to have trip out to cover the back area of this wall and surrounds??
