This was the steam engine which had been used at Penlee Quarry to pull the stone-trucks to the Newlyn South Pier for loading onto ships there. The picture was taken in 1955 on Sandy Cove the shingle beach between the South Pier and the Quarry. I do not know when this engine was replaced by diesels. It was known locally as Janner after the nickname of the driver.
