Incidentally,The Cornish Party is now protected by law and as far as I'm aware Pasties cannot be named as Cornish unless they are actually made in Cornwall.

Yes, isn't it some EU regulation that was passed? I think it also applies to certain English cheeses too - though might be wrong. Along the lines of Champagne can only be called Champagne if it comes from that region in France.
@ HH. A very grey area until someone defines the law in actual words. If the ingredients were sourced in Cornwall and prepared in Lancashire would it be a Cornish pasty. Likewise if you reversed it and sourced ingredients from Lancashire could you prepare a Lancashire hot pot in Cornwall? Then to get the debate really going what is Cornish Brie all about?
