Can you date this?
Wasn't there a small car park between the Chapel and New Town Lane in the 50's that looked staight down on the gasworks. I seem to remember a board for 'The Ritz' cinema and some sycamore trees in the vicinity.
 
Wonderful picture Chill. There are three pictures of the gas showroom on site in my postcard gallery. missp's father lived in the lane that overlooked the gasworks at the back of the chapel. We do not have a name for it as yet.
 
@ CW, believe the lane went on to Wharf Road between what was Willie Hall's warehouse and the gas retort building, was called Gas Lane. At the bottom there was a large tank that collected the tar for Plymouth Tar Distilleries.
