Men Scrifa - from about 500 AD

This 'Men Skrifa' or 'Stone [of] Incription' bears one of names of the first Cornish people we know of: 'Rialobrani Cunovali Fili', a Latin inscription showing this to be the monument of Rialobran, son of Cunoval. There is another like this at Bleu Bridge, Gulval. These are probably chieftains of the period between the departure of the Romans and the coming of the English.
Should that be 500 AD? Romans veni and vidi in 55 AD not to mention the vici.

You ve got to admire the people who inscribed their stones in Latin half a millenium before the legions landed on the island laugh#

Ooooh, that s wicked ;) Saxons (Germans) arrived in 577, Angles (Germans), Vikings 793, not to mention the Danes and the House of Hanover; whose country is this, might I ask?

Alright, you two! I do know better! AD! After rattling away at my keyboard all afternoon to put all these beautiful pics up, you ve got to expect an error here or there! ::17:::12: sad# ::17:::12: sad#
