St Mary's Church altarpiece before it was destroyed by fire.

I cannot be precise about the date (over at least 15 years ago?)on which St Mary's Church was set fire to by a damaged individual, but its effect was to destroy some work of the Newlyn artists (was it the Proctors?) that depicted central Penzance's outline. You can see these here in the top two corners. This pre-fire photograph (and the other one) was for sale within the church after renovation probably to help raise money.
The Fire - 1985. We never consider the possibilty of such a thing, and so photographs are so very important; I wish I had the wherewithal and thought to photograph more when I was younger.
