Gives a new meaning to 're-cycled glass!' It looks like the leading in the ovals is there to hold together pieces of a cracked original, rather than being there by design. Lovely vibrancy to the colours.
Totally Unsure, trouble that scenes relate to the period around the 14th century, of people in an age long gone; to the 14th century mind of the worshipper it meant more than it does now, I would need to see more.
As part of the firm, (Geoffrey Drewitt et al), and having spent many years there, working on various aspects of the historical content, it simply becomes very wide in interest, I have no doubt that much of this still remains on the 'to do' list.
Yes i don't know anything about it to be honest but i agree with tabtab about the lead, maybe the originals were largely destroyed and these bits are all that could be salvaged?
Recorded by John Taylor in 1649, that the chapel had fallen into disrepair, and used as a storage magazine for arms and weapons; in 1645 an order was given for the church to be pulled down, fortunately overlooked, the church was restored when the family came to the house in 1660.
