Having checked out this Piper, the north-east one of the two, I have learned that it is indeed the tallest menhir in Cornwall and is 15 feet tall (4.6m), a foot and a half taller than its fellow, the south-west menhir which is 99m away.
With permission and for comparison with the Pipers only I shall try to upload pictures of 'Le Grand Menhir Brisé in Locmariaquer in South Brittany, near Carnac.
Described as being at Morbihan in my info. Aubrey Burl doubts it stood, myself I wonder why he states that? A 67 foot stone, a part of a row of stones once disputed and now discovered. I do not see why we should not see that for comparison with the Cornish giants of the Pipers (there is another group on Bodmin Moor by that name)
