Had previous names such as Luke Rowe's Cottage; built 17th C, before Tredarvah House (which was built c1887 for the Harvey family, of Hayle, the name of their Hayle estate). In 1875 the OS map shows a path leading to the Weeth fields and to the town water supply channel, which was brought from Madron Well to the Reservoir at the top of Causewayhead. The cottage was at the end of the original green bank, the road originally just a track in front of Hawke's Farm, with no raised walkway, as now.
