As well as tons of pebbles, the sea washed up big chunks of rock. Must have been some big waves, but happened overnight so I doubt there'll be any photos. Nothing compared to previous storms like Ash Wednesday though. 10 February 2009
Newlyn Green turned brown in 1993 when the main sewage pipe was laid. This sloping concrete wall which I remember as a child disappeared soon after for many years and now has been replaced with a grass bank.
This is how the children's fenced in area at the Art Gallery end of Newlyn Green used to look, before the gate was widened so cars could drive in, as they have continuously this morning, churning the grass up and making a lot of noise! It is the Newlyn Raft Race day on the Green today...
I have no idea what this Ka was doing on the verge like this but had to take a few snaps. As I look at this picture, that whistling tune from the Great Escape springs to mind.
