The building of Tesco

This picture shows the construction of Tesco. You can still see Bruno's bar and by this time it was a night club. I think this picture was taken in 1998 Supplied by Di and Den
As always, the 'new jobs' card is being played. It seems that now, anything old or green can be destroyed, pulled down and concreted over - as long as it means 'new jobs'. Not that I'm disputing the need for new jobs, but I suspect what Tesco will do (as I know they have done before) is that when someone leaves, their work load is divided amongst the remainder. So it wouldn't surprise me if there will be much less than 150 new jobs - there will be some, but the majority of extra work will be divided up amongst existing staff. After all, targets have to be met and profit has to be made, don't they? Still, more working tax payers means more revenue for the government - even better with your pensionable age hurtling towards, 80 or even 90 - just wait and see!) - all to be squandered away without doing any real good or making a difference to the average person. I despair - when did the rot start that led us to here?

I now have a completely different view having had these stroke situations, a friend in Devon has been my rock, Tesco (and Wiltshire Farm Foods) have been the reason for me still being here now; medically speaking I have no complaints whatsoever, if any jobs are created through this plan I will be rooting for them. I used to prepare food myself but it is beyond common sense at the moment to even consider it.
