Foss the butchers taken by J W Meek and son in the 1920's. Obviously Foss has gone now but they were next door to the London Inn in Causewayhead. Today its a charity shop.
Taken in 1860 this picture of the Green Market shows one of the few water chutes situated at the end of the building. This water chute was fed from the Causeway Head reservoir. There were only a couple of these chutes and none of the houses had running water like today.

The old Penzance Union workhouse was built in 1838 at Madron. It was designed by George Gilbert Scott and his partner William Bonython Moffatt. Intended to accommodate 400 inmates, the Poor Law Commissioners authorised the sum of £6,050 on its construction.
Later it became the home to Madron...

Originally known as the flea pit this is the Ritz. This photo was kindly donated by Merlin Cinemas. The Ritz later became Mecca bingo hall and later taken over by Rank Bingo. Today it is in private ownership.
